Client Feedback

Set out below is some feedback on projects Nigel has led over the last few years

“SKM Enviros and its predecessor were successful bidders for three areas of consultancy for my team within Defra which is responsible for policy on hazardous waste. Enviros provided an excellent piece of work in relation to capacity needs for hazardous waste in the face of regulatory changes under the Landfill Directive. Enviros clearly understood the technical aspects and higher level policy importance of this piece of work, which was delivered to time and fully met Defra’s needs. Enviros were also willing to go that extra mile to support Defra in discussion and analysis of this important topic. I can also confirm that very good pieces of work were provided by Enviros in respect of hazardous waste exemptions, and the changes that might be required to ensure compliance with EU legislation and on opportunities and good practice on hazardous waste collections by local authorities.”

Head of Hazardous and International Waste, Defra

“Enviros were successful bidders for a research project to provide an evidence base for a previously poorly-understood aspect of waste charging. This was a complex piece of work as there was little existing data, and information had to be gained from multiple stakeholders who lacked common understanding of certain basic concepts. I was particularly impressed with the way the research team communicated with us, keeping us informed of issues arising, and taking on board comments from the project steering group. Their flexibility and openness to suggestions was vital in ensuring the success of the project. Enviros produced a clear, readable report which clearly set out the data and its limitations, which was delivered on time and fully achieved the aims of the project”

Controlled Waste Regulations Review Project Manager, Defra

“Following competitive tender process SKM Enviros was appointed to undertake a study of the technical and economic aspects (including need) for the development of a National Difficult Waste Facility (incorporating hazardous waste landfill, storage, etc).   What was most notable about SKM from the outset (even at tender stage) was their ability to ‘get inside’ the clients head, by fully grasping the scope and concept for the project, and especially by identifying synergies and proposing added value elements to the contract.   Their perspective and experiences not only Ireland, but also in Great Britain and Northern Ireland contributed to a mature understanding of brief and the task.  Their access to a large pool of in house expertise was beneficial to the project.  These qualities also meant that as an otherwise busy client I did not have to lead or direct; they were highly motivated and self directed. The report was completed within budget and to high quality.”

Senior Inspector, Irish Environmental Protection Agency

“Thanks a lot for the work: it is excellent, and exactly what we needed.”

Assistant Director, Waste Reform and Reporting, Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities, Australia

The project [Waste Capacity Study] was managed by Nigel Naisbitt with Kate Thompson the main point of contact and undertaking most of the work. We found both easy to work with and both have extensive knowledge in the waste policy area. The final report was of a high standard and was also produced within the required timescales. I would have no reservations inviting Enviros Ltd to tender for similar waste related studies.
