Waste Prevention, Reuse & Recycling

With greater focus on local authority budgets, finding savings in service delivery whilst continuing to deliver a quality service and maintaining or improving recycling and landfill diversion rates is vitally important.  Developing effective prevention, reuse and recycling schemes or identifying operational efficiencies needs to be based on a detailed analysis of the different elements of a waste management service in order to:

  • understand how the different schemes with the service are performing;
  • benchmark performance against comparable local authorities;
  • allow potential improvements to be identified and modelled, leading to the identification of the most appropriate scheme changes/ efficiency improvements based on both cost and performance.

Nigel has extensive experience, across the UK, of supporting local authorities in service changes and efficiency improvements related to the provision of residual waste, dry recyclables, food waste and garden waste collection services, and at Household Waste Recycling Centres.
